Twitter search may very well be the next 'digital shelf space' that becomes a critical area for brands to own, monitor and react. It will be increasingly important for big brands to stand up, take notice and participate. - Outrider Canada

One of the key issues here is ownership of Social Media Marketing and collaboration within the organization to address the conversations. We are the trailblazers on this path and need to share information on what's working and what's not in the space. The brand folks are oftentimes unfamiliar with the web space and don't want to take on responsibility for microblogging. The eCom guys want sales - myself included - and have more interest in foundational online marketing tactics with clear ROI and additional depth to be tackled. However, it's critical that we move forward and uncover the potential for the space.

Great post JP.

Twitter is really changing the way the game is played as far as the speed at which information spreads. Companies will have to pay more attention to what's being said about them since messages spread faster than wildfire. Twitter is constantly adding new users, and if companies allow for uncontrolled negative spin in such a large audience, it could have a profound impact on people's long-term perception of their company. - MarkOLM™
